Guthrie avoids first day of triple digit temperatures; heat warning in place

It certainly did not feel this way on Wednesday, but Guthrie avoided its first day of triple digit weather in 2016.

According to the Mesonet, Guthrie reached a high of 99 with a heat index of 106 degrees.

With the 99 degree temperature reading, Guthrie has now had 27 days this year of at least 90 degrees, including the last six days.

Logan County remains in an Excessive Heat Warning until 8 p.m. Thursday.

In nearby Kingfisher County, they have collected 9 days of at least 100 degrees.

So far in 2016, Guthrie area has collected 14.77 inches of rain, according to the Mesonet.

Rain chances remain slim for Wednesday, but a greater chance of rain for the county could come on Friday with a 50 percent chance of showers.

Temperatures are expected to come down a touch, but remain in the 90’s for the remainder of the week.
