The second and last built-in snow day for Guthrie Public Schools will be utilized, according to Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson. The announcement came Monday night at the Board of Education meeting.
Classes were canceled on January 13 due to winter forecasts. Now, the school district will be in session on April 21.
“I like to think we are out of the woods, but I have seen Oklahoma weather turn on a dime,” Simpson said during his monthly report. “Never say never.”
Classes were also canceled the previous week on Jan. 6, which moved classes to March 10.
The school district must obtained 1080 hours of instruction for the school year, which calculates the number of days required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
The school calendar is comprised by a committee and approved by the Board of Education.
