The Guthrie YMCA is currently in the middle of their Annual Community Support Campaign. What is the Annual Community Support Campaign? It is their way of giving back to the community through their financial assistance program.
Many people come to them for different reasons and don’t always have the means to participate in the Y.
“We not only can give them a sense of financial peace through this program but also a sense of relief knowing that they have a safe place for their child to go after school or to learn new skills that will help them become better leaders, or teach them skills to be safe around the water,” Center Director Kristen Hersom said.
“Whatever their reason for coming to the Y we want everyone to have a chance to participate and to know that we are more than just a fitness center. We are a cause driven organization, here to strengthen and support the community.”
Last year the Y provided financial assistance of over $170,028 to 932 individuals through their campaign. Every year our program participation grows and thus does their need to provide financial assistance.
“We will never turn anyone away due to the inability to pay,” Hersom added.
The campaign is coming to an end this week and they are needing your help to reach their goal.
“We currently sit at 67 percent of our $42,500 goal. Will you join me this year in making an investment in our citizens through a gift to the YMCA? Your donation to the Guthrie YMCA stays local and has a lasting impact on our community,” Hersom said.
