On Friday night during halftime, Jelsma Stadium honored the 10-year anniversary of the 2007 state championship football team.

The 2007 state champions was Guthrie’s first perfect team with an untouched 14-0 record and left their marks as one of the best teams ever assembled in the state of Oklahoma.

The Jays offense scored 764 points (54.5 average), including scoring 61-plus points in eight games and ranks among the most points scored in the nation. In the four playoffs games, they outscored their opponents 183 – 51.

Perhaps, the best defense they saw that year was …. In practice.

The Jays defense shut-out seven opponents and only allowed 89 points all season. That is an average of one touchdown per game. In the first 11 games of the season, the Jays defense held their opponents scoreless in 39 of the 44 quarters.
