Neighborhood Solutions receives grant to help improve homes

The Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative board recently approved a $1,800 grant to First Capital Neighborhood Solutions Foundation, which will help fund the organization’s DIY Home Improvement Program.

FCNS is a nonprofit organization that helps provide resources that will strengthen, develop and improve neighborhoods located in Guthrie, Okla. FCNS also serves as a resource center to help establish neighborhood associations to encourage neighbor connections.

In partnership with Home Depot, FCNS offers the DIY Home Improvement Program to provide lower income residents with new home improvement items to help beautify and/or repair their home. Currently, the program is open to residents of Logan, Payne and Lincoln counties.

FCNS has a variety of other programs, such as organizing neighborhood watch groups, grant assistance for neighborhood groups, grant assistance and financial assistance for home repairs, financial assistance for home ownership, financial counseling and credit report repair, workshops and forums, and beautification programs. The Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative, a board independent of Central Electric Cooperative, administers a program called Operation Round Up®.
