Little Lions aiming for seventh straight league championship

The Tri-City Little Lions, a team made up of children from the Coyle, Langston, and Meridian area, are seeking their seventh league championship on Saturday, October 27 with a game time of 7 p.m.

The Little Lions currently hold a season record of 7-0 under the coaching of Alvin Carnall, John Pross, Donnie Detlaff and Dakota Hock.

The Little Lions were founded in 2008 by Carnall and Enoch Jackson.

Originally, an 11-man team, the Little Lions moved to 8-man team with the Tri-County League in 2013 and have worked to build a team dynamic that values perseverance and effort.

The Little Lions have produced multiple players who went on to excel in their high school and college careers in football.

Alvin R.C. Carnall, an All-Star player in Oklahoma’s 8-man league, and Enoch Jackson Jr., who will be the first Little Lion to sign a Division I scholarship with the University of Arkansas later this year.

The Little Lions are funded strictly through fundraising and donations. They have a rule of no child who wishes to play will be turned away due to financial need. Each year the Little Lions seek businesses to help meet this need. Assisting this season, includes Guthrie North Church, Environmental Management, Beck’s Farm Equipment, Midwest Wrecking and Oklahoma Coring and Cutting.

The Little Lions are excited to take on the task of working expand their winning record this weekend.

At the end of each practice and game, the Lions can be heard chanting their mantra “Get it Done, No Excuses”.
