Services were held Monday morning in Guthrie for celebrity makeup artist Roscoe “Ross” Burton. The Emmy-nominated cosmetics connoisseur may have been best known as Oprah Winfrey’s key makeup artist.
Although, Burton did not grow up in the Guthrie area, he had several family members in the area and would frequently visit them when his busy schedule would allow.
The Michigan native (born in Oklahoma City) began his beauty career with Macy’s Herald Square store and rose rapidly within the company, becoming vice president of artistry programs and artistic director. There, he trained the brand’s makeup artists, as well. His initial intro to Oprah came courtesy of Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King.
Burton began working with Oprah in 2007, he traveled all over the world with Oprah to places like Turkey, Australia, and South Africa, just to name a few.
Along with Oprah, Burton worked along the sides of Natalie Cole, Kerry Washington, Eva Longoria, and Lauryn Hill
Ross was born on February 7 to Roscoe and Beverly (Roper) Burton, Jr.
