Highland Park and Mineral Wells Park are just two of several jewels in Guthrie. Both city parks will see improvements through the Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) sales tax.
The Guthrie city council unanimously voted to solicit bids to rehabilitate the two tennis courts in Highland Park and construction of a new basketball court in Mineral Wells park.
The tennis courts, which greet visitors as they enter the park at Highland, are expected to cost $230,000, while the basketball court comes with a price tag of $170,000.
On the same night, council voted to purchase a ladder truck for the Guthrie Fire Department and 10 police cruisers for the Guthrie Police Department. Related article: Council approves purchase of ladder truck, 10 police units
