Statewide computer issue has shutdown driver license system

Updated on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 — At the current time, driver license offices across the state are not able to issue new driver licenses or ID cards but can issue replacement and renewal licenses and IDs. Tag agencies are not affected, as they only issue replacement driver licenses and IDs. The Department of Public Safety continues to work with the vendor to completely restore the system as soon as possible.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reporting a power outage occurred on Sunday morning and has caused a computer hardware problem. Currently, the driver license system is down at all sites across the state.

DPS and all tag agencies are unable to process driver licenses or ID requests at this time.

DPS says they’re working with the vendor who supplies the hardware to fix the problem. It is currently unknown how long this process will take.
