City awarded with 50-50 grant to update Mineral Wells Park

The City of Guthrie was awarded a grant from the Land & Water Conservation Fund to help make improvements to Mineral Wells Park.

Some of the improvements include, updating playground equipment to be ADA accessible for children with special needs. New equipment will incorporate a historic theme and color scheme to blend well with the history of the park.

The City will replace the old unusable wading pool with a splashpad that also has a historic theme and color scheme.

Replace sand surfaces in the playground area with a pour-in-place rubber surface, pave gravel parking areas and add small pavillions throughout the park that are designed with an architectural style/appearance that is historic in nature.

Total cost of the project will be $875,000 with $437,500 provided by the LWCF grant and $437,500 from the City’s Capital Improvement Project (CIP) sales tax collection.

Our City is moving in the right direction. When you see City Manager Leroy, tell him THANKS! He’s a keeper.
