Elite 8: Guthrie vs Nelson, BC in Strong Towns competition

Guthrie showcased its power in the round of Sweet 16 with a convincing win over Westwood, Kansas. Now, the competition steps up immensely in the Elite 8 round.

The Oklahoma town brought in 74 percent of the vote for the win over Westwood. However, Nelson, British Columbia stacked up 80 percent of the vote in their win over Amesville, Ohio.

The winner between Guthrie and Nelson will advance to the Final Four of the Strong Town competition.

The Strongest Town contest is a month-long, bracket-based competition designed to spotlight communities from around the world that are building enduring financial resilience at the local level and actively embodying the Strong Towns approach to economic growth and development.

Nelson is a city located in the Selkirk Mountains on the extreme West Arm of Kootenay Lake in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada.

Guthrie had a population mismatch against Westwood (almost 10-1) but has approximately 600 more people then Nelson.

Round one was dependent mostly on text and describing each town. Round two is more dependent on photos and captioning those photos.
