Officials are projecting the Cimarron River will go into flood stage on Wednesday evening.

Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow says the flooding event could take place between 6-7 p.m. and crest at 22 feet possibly at 7 a.m. in Thursday.

“This will most likely necessitate the closure of US 77 this evening from Dolese Road to the north side of the bridge,” Harlow said.

The flooding should recede by Friday morning.

At the present time, Harlow does not believe there will not be any issues with the Cottonwood Creek in Guthrie.

The fire department will continue to monitor the situation.
