10 additional sex crimes filed against suspected child predator

A man is facing 10 additional sexual charges against children. Police believe there could be even more charges filed as they continue with their investigation.

Last week, Michael John Malatesta was charged with multiple counts of indecent or lewd acts with a child under 16 years of age. On Monday, he was charged with 10 new counts, including nine charges of sexual abuse of a child and one count for solicitation of a minor. On May 12, Malatesta was charged with four felony counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child under 16 and two felony charges of indecent proposal to a child under 16.

The 56-year-old man from Crescent was originally given a $50,000 bond before being increased to $150,000 on the six charges. That bond amount could soon be increasing again when he faces a Logan County judge on the 10 new charges.

Malatesta remains behind bars in the Logan County Jail.

Court documents show the suspect will be formally arraigned on the new charges on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Investigators said more victims came forward following Malatesta’s arrest and believe there are more victims that have yet to come forward.

If there are any additional victims or if anyone has information is asked to contact the Guthrie Police Department at 405-282-3535.
