An oilfield truck’s malfunction sent four fire departments to Highway 74 for a vehicle and field fire.
Fire departments from Crescent, Guthrie, Deer Creek and Cashion responded to Highway 74 and 74F at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow said an oil field pick-up truck’s catalytic converter helped spark a wheat field fire.
The truck belonged with JB Oilfield Services out of Lamont, Okla.
Harlow said approximately 200 round bales were burned and was contained quickly after fire crews arrived.
Parts of the highway was closed due to the blowing smoke.
