The Guthrie football program held their season banquet Sunday afternoon inside the Family Life Center as they honored the season, that included the Class 5A State Championship.
Head Coach Rafe Watkins thanked everyone inside the program as well as the community of Guthrie for their support throughout the season. Watkins acknowledge each player, trainer and assistant coach.
Watkins informed the estimated 300 people in attendance that Luke Davis was named the Most Valuable Player in the 5A-1 District. The district includes Ada, Carl Albert, Deer Creek, El Reno, Guthrie, Noble, Southeast and Western Heights. Seniors on each squad are eligible for district honors.
Landry Chappell was named the district’s Defensive Player of the Year while Blake Belcher was awarded the Lineman of the Year. Both Chappell and Belcher are expected to be named to the Jim Thorpe team.
Hayden Seifert and Cooper Davis were named first team all-district offensive lineman, Zac Brown was named to the first team on the defensive line and John Clark as a linebacker.
Earning second team all-district includes tight end Clint Simek, offensive lineman Malachai Galbraith and kicker Esau Paez.
Running back Seth Vicchio, tight end Lamarc Allison and offensive lineman Dusty Cotton were named as honorable mention to the district.
