89er Day celebration begins this week in Guthrie

It’s the week that stops in Guthrie. Must be 89er’s Week.

Earlier this month, Albert Hawkes, Commander, American Legion Lebron Post 58, presented a Governor’s proclamation to Guthrie Mayor Chuck Burtcher.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Heroes of Service” and provides an opportunity to honor members of the military, the police, and firefighters. 89er Celebration Week officially begins Tuesday, April 17th with the annual Chuckwagon Feast and Western Art Auction.

Chuck Wagon Feed

 

Great BBQ, entertainment by the Billy Bob Bovine Band, auction of 89er items, and Children’s Costume Contest. Great time for everyone and the official kick-off of the weeks celebration. Meet the 89er Queen. Tickets are $10.00. Come and enjoy good food, meet old friends and make some new ones. Located at the Logan County Fairgrounds. Serving starts at 5:00 p.m.

Carnival

The carnival will begin on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Times for the carnival will be April 18th-20th(4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.), April 21st(12:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.) Armbands(used to access all rides) will be available for all sessions.

Old-timer Baseball Game

Come one, come all to see baseball as it was played during early times with authentic uniforms. Game is played at Squires Field(one block East of Division Street on Springer) at 6:30 p.m., April 19th. Adequate free parking is available. Concessions are also available or bring your own.
