Beginning October 13, the City of Guthrie will launch the next phase of its downtown improvements as part of the CIP #2 Initiative: Growing Guthrie, approved by voters in 2024.
The upcoming work focuses on upgrading sidewalks, crosswalks, and intersection features to improve accessibility and safety while ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The intersection scheduled for upgrades is Harrison Avenue and 1st Street.
“We are excited to continue investing in Guthrie’s infrastructure thanks to CIP #2 funding sources,” said City Manager Eddie Faulkner. “These intersection improvements are a meaningful step toward ensuring our downtown is safe and accessible for everyone.”
Motorists, pedestrians, and business owners are encouraged to plan for temporary changes in traffic patterns and use caution when traveling in the area during construction. The project is expected to take 60 to 75 days to complete, weather permitting.
In addition, the Oklahoma Avenue and Wentz Street intersection is expected to reopen to traffic by October 13.
