Annual Trash-Off Days set for April 10-11 at Guthrie Convenience Center

Guthrie residents will soon have the opportunity to clear out clutter and tackle spring cleaning during the city’s Annual Trash-Off Days in April.

The free cleanup event for Guthrie residents will take place at the Convenience Center, located at 1506 N. Academy Road.

Residents can drop off approved items on Friday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The event continues Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. No loads will be accepted after 4:45 p.m. on either day.

The event is open to Guthrie residents only and is not available to commercial waste customers or contractors. Participants must bring a current City of Guthrie utility bill and a photo ID. All loads must be transported in trucks with a one-ton or smaller.

Participants are allowed to bring dump beds or dump-style trailers; however, they must be unloaded prior to placement of dump boxes. Trailers may be used but must be no longer than 16 feet. Tree limbs must be 10 inches in diameter or less and cut into sections no longer than six feet.

Appliances will be accepted if all refrigerants have been properly removed and compressors and capacitors are taken out. Latex paint will only be accepted if it is completely dry, and no liquid latex paint will be allowed.

Used motor oil will be accepted on Saturday only with restrictions, including no commercial tires, no oversized farm or off-road tires, and no tires mounted on rims.

EMI will also accept select special waste items on Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to noon, including cleaners, pesticides, acids, thinners, flammable materials, fluorescent bulbs, antifreeze and other approved household hazardous waste items.

City officials encourage residents to take advantage of the annual event as a convenient way to safely dispose of unwanted items and reclaim space at home.
