Guthrie Noon Lions Club is proud to announce the local winner of the annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Sixty-one contest entries were submitted by Ms. Phyllis Creamer’s art classes at Guthrie Junior High School.
Tammy Murray, glass blower, Nell Thalasinos, graphic artist and designer, and Mike Wilson, painter, graciously donated their time and served on the judging panel which selected the winning art work.
The winning entry belongs to Ariyanna Wilkins. The art was scored in three categories- originality, artistic merit, and expression of the theme- using a five-point scale. Ariyanna’s design scored the highest with a combined score of 45 points.
Ariyanna’s art work will progress to the next level of the contest, competing against other winners within the district. The winning entry at the district level continues to the national and, if it wins again, the international contest. The International Grand Prize Winner will receive $5000 and a trip to the awards ceremony at Lions Day with the United Nations.
