The driver and passenger of a Chevrolet Avalanche knew something was not right late Sunday evening with their vehicle. After getting out of the truck, flames began to take over.
The Guthrie Fire Department responded to W. Industrial Road to the Cottonwood Creek bridge for a vehicle fire just before 10 p.m.
According to the driver, a noise could be heard as if something was being dragged from the vehicle. After finding a level parking area to check the vehicle, flames could be seen coming from the engine compartment.
Before firefighters could arrive, the truck was fully-engulfed.
To make the situation more intense, the vehicle was fueled by
compressed natural gas (CNG).
Firefighters kept their distance to extinguish the flames before turning the CNG valve off from the back of the vehicle.
The truck is a complete loss.
There were no injuries reported at the scene.
