BancFirst will serve as a donation site for the “Feeding Oklahoma” food drive sponsored by Governor Mary Fallin again this year. The goal is to collect one million meals for hungry Oklahomans.
Non-perishable food items can be brought to the BancFirst “Feeding Oklahoma” collection boxes October 1 – 31. Needed items include canned meats, canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned beans and peanut butter.
The “Feeding Oklahoma” food drive was launched in partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. However, through local partner agencies, the food collected at BancFirst Guthrie will remain in the county and serve those needing assistance in surrounding communities.
“The food drive is such a worthy cause for Oklahoma,” remarked BancFirst Guthrie President LaVerne Dowding. “We encourage Guthrie to get involved and bring food donations to any BancFirst location. Food collected in our location will serve families in need from our area. Last year 2,500 pounds of food were collected at BancFirst locations across the state.”
In Oklahoma, one in four children struggle with hunger on a daily basis. The Food Bank provides food for over 90,000 people each week, but it’s not enough to keep up with the growing demand. Every $1 donated provides five meals to people in need. Donations from generous Oklahomans are of paramount importance to keep our families fed this season.
