The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations (OSBI) held their annual awards earlier this month and recognized Bill Pickle and his service.
“For decades, you have put your responsibilities at the OSBI above all others – including your family. You volunteer whenever a need arises and look for ways to improve the agency,” an OSBI spokesperson said of Pickle as he was awarded with the Legion of Merit.
Pickle’s duties include operations at the off-site facility, vehicle maintenance, and operating the Mobile Analysis Center (MAC). Often Pickle spends days with the MAC unit at crime scenes and offers assistance to agents.
This year, Pickle accepted a challenge to work shifts for the OSBI Communications Unit while keeping up with all his other responsibilities. The communications unit was woefully understaffed and Pickle worked overnight shifts for communications and would report to work minutes after his shift ended.
“Your eagerness to help the agency at every turn is recognized and celebrated with this coveted award,” the spokesperson said.
