The official document was received last week, but Guthrie senior Trevor Blassingame signed his letter of intent to play college football with the University of Central Oklahoma in front of family, coaches, teammates and friends Wednesday morning.
With a crowded GHS library, Blassingame signed his name with the Bronchos with the library surronded with yellow and blue colors.
“We are going to miss him,” Guthrie head coach Kelly Beeby said several times when he spoke on his four-year starter.
Blassingame, a second team All-State selection, controlled multiple games from his defensive line position and in 2013 ranked second in tackles on the team with 125 tackles. He was tops when it came to bringing the quarterback down with 15 sacks.
For a career, he piled up 362 tackles and 29 sacks.
“I just want to thank everyone for making this happen,” the All-City Blassingame said as he stood up and addressed those in attendance.
His future coach is excited to get Blassingame to Edmond.
“Trevor is a big rugged kid that can really set a point on the line of scrimmage. He comes from a hugely successful program and knows what it takes to be successful,” head coach Nick Bobeck said.
