In a special meeting held on Monday morning, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved a contract with Timberlake Construction to renovate the recently purchased Logan County Administration Building, formerly known as the Department of Human Services building, located at 1414 S. Division St.
This significant decision marks a crucial step in transforming the facility into new county offices.
Members of the Timberlake crew discussed the pricing and layout for the renovation project, detailing plans to eliminate some interior walls and relocate public restrooms.
The project is estimated to cost $3,091,864.12, which includes the base construction cost of $2,470,527.17 and additional expenses for general conditions, liability, risk, bond, software, preconstruction, fees (5%), and project contingency (5%).
This overall estimated price tag is $8,000 higher than the February estimate when the BOCC approved the building’s purchase for $2.1 million and assumed the land lease from the Oklahoma School Land, with plans to purchase the land.
The renovation is expected to be completed by early June 2025. Upon completion, the new building will house the offices of the County Clerk, Treasurer, Assessor, and commissioners.
This project is funded by the $9.3 million awarded to the BOCC from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, with $6 million specifically allocated for the new administration building and courthouse.
