The Guthrie Board of Education meeting ended in a surprising way when they accepted the resignation of a school employee.
On Monday evening’s meeting, Director of Facilities Jerry Gammill turned in his resignation and retirement request. The motion was approved unanimously (6-0) by the school board.
Gammill is expected to stay until this summer, which will leave him a few months shy from 29 years with the district.
He says the time is just right and that the state-wide funding for public schools played a small role in his decision.
