The Guthrie High School gymnasium will receive another upgrade after the Board of Education approved a $1.5 million bid for restrooms and lobby.
A complete renovation is set to begin this summer to upgrade the gymnasium’s lobby and restrooms,
School officials said the restrooms will be upgraded to meet ADA requirements and reconfigured to provide a much more open and spacious lobby.
The project includes relocating the women’s restrooms and enclosing a porch area near the entrance of the gym and counselors’ offices.
The winning bid selected by the BOE was Lambert’s $1,539.000.
These projects will be funded through a combination of bond funds and the American Rescue Plan funds.
The gymnasium has recently seen upgrades over the last few years with upgraded home and visitor seating, playing surface and score boards. The school’s secondary gym, used primarily for physical education classes, also known as the North Gym received a new playing surface and bleachers.
