One of the final touches for the 2015 successful school bond projects for Guthrie Public Schools was awarded last week.
The Board of Education approved the renovation of the Guthrie High School’s HVAC system.
The school district received three bids for the project. The lowest bid of $1.68 million was awarded to Innovative Mechanical, who is based out of Oklahoma City.
The base bid came in at $1.28M and the two alternate bids totaled $392,000.
The alternate bids include adding air to the main gymnasium and the gymnasium locker rooms, including the wrestling room.
The HVAC project, along with the construction of Charter Oak Elementary and Junior High exterior renovations, is the third and final phase of the successful $16.2 million bond issue.
GUES intercom, clock system
The BOE also approved the winning bid of $78,300 for the intercom and clock system at Guthrie Upper Elementary School, which was built in 1989.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson says the system has become obsolete and no longer functional.
“From a safety stand point it needs to be addressed.”
The winning bid was awarded to Endex – based out of Oklahoma City – for the intercom system at $56,300 and $22,000 for the clock system.
The project will be funded through the district’s Building Fund.
