The 2009 defending state champion boys track team won their second event in a row with a 34 point win difference over McAlester at Holland Hall Friday afternoon. The meet fielded 21 teams.
The Lady Jays, who are currently without the services of senior Rachel Roberts, finished sixth overall in a field of 19 teams, and finished with a team score of 43 and a third points.
Perhaps the most impressive Jay runner was sophomore Jonathan Ogan, who ran the 3200 meter and improved his time by 24 seconds. He finished second in the run with a time of 10:19.03.
Emmanuel Robinson continues to dominate the 100 meter run and 110 meter hurdles by placing first in both races. He cleared the line 10.96 in the 100 meter and 14.83 in the hurdles.
Robinson was joined by Dustin Bohanan, Alphonzo Wilcox, and Corbin Crockett to win the 4 x 100 in a time of 43.41. This team also took top place in the Catoosa meet just last week.
The 4 x 800 collected back-to-back wins as well. Jared Ogan, Jason Ogan, Alex Dorio, and Zac Cates finished in a time of 8:38.85.
In more individual races, Bohanan added a second place finish in the 200 meters (23.57) and third overall in the 100 meters (11.53) while Jason Ogan ran a time of 4:49.03 in the 1600 meter to finish second. In the same 1600 race, Cates came across third in a time of 4:52.31. In the 800 meter, Jared Ogan had a time of 2:10.08 and was good enough for fourth.
In the field events, Zac Brown had a throw of 43-2 in the shot put and was good enough for third place after finishing in sixth place last week in Catoosa. Brown placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 119-0.
Senior Kolt Rinehart also had a third place finish in the pole vault with a jump of 10-0.
For the Lady Jays they did not have any top places, but had a strong showing in the field events.
Leading the charge was Erin Perring in the discus with a toss of 99-6 and C.C. Bates was fourth with a 94-3 recording. In the long jump, Rosetta Galbraith leaped 15-4 for third and Alexis Daniels jumped 14-6 1/2 for fifth. Galbraith also added a third place finish in the 800 meter run in a time of 13.06.
Leslie Hughes hit the 4-10 mark in the high jump and finished third overall and Daniels was just two spots behind at 4-8.
Both Guthrie teams will next be in action on Friday, March 26, at Edmond Memorial. Start time is scheduled for 3:30.
