Brandi Jordan signs with Allen

Brandi Jordan had no choice but to get better in basketball and get set for college. Her family would not allow anything else.

Jordan signed with Allen Community College on Thursday morning inside the Guthrie High School library surrounded by family, friends and coaches.

“This is a real blessing. I really appreciate everyone,” Jordan said. “This has been a very long journey and I don’t want it to end.”

Jordan was a four-year stand-out for the Lady Jays and played under four different head coaches. Despite, the different coaching philosophies from year to year, Jordan was a force in the Suburban Conference as she earned second team honors.

In 2018, Jordan was named to the first team for the stacked Suburban Conference.

“I wish I did have another year with Brandy because I truly believe she could go straight Division I, but never the less I’m happy for her that she is going to get an opportunity to play in the Jayhawk Conference,” head coach Malcom Roberts said.

“We pray she that she gets an opportunity to play in Division I basketball.”

Jordan asked her former head coach Corey Sauser to join her on her signing day.

“Opportunities after high school don’t happen by accident and she has that opportunity because the work she has put in,” Sauser said.

GHS athletic director Jon Chappell said, “The thing that makes us proud at Guthrie High School is not only is she going to extend her athletic career, but we are sending a good girl out in the world.

Allen Community College is a junior college program in Iola, Kansas.
