Burglars leave evidence to send them behind bars

Two men are behind bars after allegedly breaking into vending machines over the weekend. The apparent crooks did not help their chances of getting away when they left some great evidence for law enforcement to find them.

Hotel Burglary

Robert David Strattion, 44, of Arizona and Karl Aaron Frederiksen, 43, of Kansas are facing burglary and drug charges.

Karl Aaron Frederiksen, 43, of Kansas and Robert David Strattion, 44, of Arizona are looking at seven and eight felony charges, respectively, including two counts of burglary.

The two men were captured on surveillance video walking into a Guthrie hotel at around 8 p.m. on Friday and making their way to the vending machines. The men were able to pick the lock and make off with about $50 in quarters.

Not far from the hotel, the men also allegedly struck an apartment complex’s machines with the same type unlocking equipment.

They were seen leaving on bicycles.

Several hours later in the early morning hours near Triplett and Division, a Logan County deputy spotted two men on bicycles that appeared to be suspicious. After speaking with Guthrie police officers, the two men, who were described having the same clothing description from the detailed surveillance video at the motel, were taken into custody.

The following morning, a search warrant was issued for their hotel room not to far from the hotel and apartment complex they allegedly struck. Once inside the room, officers spotted tons of tools associated with burglaries. In addition, detectives located drug paraphernalia, stolen property and several lottery tickets.

Both men are expected to be arraigned on Monday and each are facing two counts of burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of burglary implements and possession of stolen property. Strattion faces additional charges, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance and paraphernalia.

Just 10 days ago, Strattion was arrested in Kansas on theft charges.
