Car seat distribution to be held at the Guthrie Fire Department

The Guthrie Fire Department, Logan County Health Department and Safe Kids Oklahoma will be holding a car seat distribution on Thursday at the fire department.

“Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent,” said Kim Gray, Director of Safe Kids Oklahoma. “We want all parents to make sure their car seats are used and installed correctly. A recent study shows that 85 percent of crashes occurred 20 minutes or less from home.”

The event will take place from 4 – 6 p.m. at the fire department, which is located at 209 East Springer.

To receive a car seat check or to be eligible to receive a car seat, the child must be present. Car seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $15 per car seat for those who can provide proof of government assistance. An expectant mother must be within six weeks of her delivery date.
