Sportsmanship and respect were on full display at Carl Albert’s final home volleyball game when the Titans chose to recognize not only their own eighth graders, but Guthrie Junior High’s as well.

The Carl Albert players decided to hold their 8th-grade night during the matchup with Guthrie because of the connection they’ve built with the Bluejays over the years. Coaches and players alike agreed that Guthrie’s team stood out for their positive attitudes, sportsmanship, and the program’s growth since its start just four years ago.

After Carl Albert’s players received their senior-night-style gifts, Coach Boykin called out the names of Guthrie’s eighth graders. In a touching moment, one of the Carl Albert girls presented each Guthrie player with a blue flower as their names were announced.

Guthrie’s 8th graders recognized that night were:

  • Gianna Boykin #1
  • Makala Graham #2
  • Clara Graham #4
  • Addison Jackson #8
  • Emma Privette #15
  • Maisy Johnson #16
  • Karis Cochran #19
  • Alexandria Mason #27
  • Anabel Guzman #28
  • Samantha Salas #29

This year marks the fourth season for Guthrie Junior High Volleyball, and the program continues to show steady growth and pride — both on and off the court.
