Greetings! I hope you are having a great week! Advertising is one of the important things that we do through the CVB. There are several outlets that we are using right now to promote events around Guthrie. We have a ten and and thirty second spot airing on Clear Channel stations: KTOK AM 1000, KXY, KEBC, KJ103, 94.7 the Brew and 101.9 The Twister.
The commercials will promote the 89er Celebration and the Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo at the Lazy E starting the 31st of March until the events are over! The March Edition of the Frontier Country Travel has a banner ad for the RNCFR running all of this month. The webpage of Frontier Country has tile ads on the front page, April will have a link to the 89er Poster showing all of the detailed events.
I’ve been attending Downtown Improvement Meetings since last November. It’s a group of citizens who are interested in giving the City direction to spend some of the extra money from the Mumford & Sons concert. Conversations have been had about infrastructure, concert stages, bump-outs, landscape improvements, a street square with splash pads, memorials, farmers market etc. This group doesn’t want to make any changes that would harm Guthrie’s comprehensive plan either so lots of ideas are being discussed. I have no idea what is going to happen but it’s really great to be in a room full of people excited to talk about how they want to see Guthrie grow!
If you have any free time, say 30 minutes one day a week from Monday – Thursday between either 12:10 – 12:40p.m. or 1pm – 1:30pm a few kids at Central School would love your help with reading, writing and math skills. A teacher is always present to help you with needs of the student. Friday morning from 7:30 – 8am there are specific students who need extra help with their sight words. A board of words is used and you help them sound them out and memorize the words. If you are interested please contact Shayla Simpson at Smart Start, 405-834-5621.
Thanks! Another thing that I would love to see happen around town is being able to see the business marquees greet the different groups that come into Guthrie for an event or festival. We had a ton of Lazy E people in town last weekend; we should have welcomed them via our marquees! I bet if the restaurants that have marquees would mention something they would get more business! Just a thought.
