There are several things going on in Guthrie weekend. The Lazy E is hosting the Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping, Friday and Saturday, November 8th and 9th.
Steer roping fans will enjoy all of the activities planned for the performances. VIP ticket prices for each performance of the NFSR are $40 … Box seats $35 and general admission $23 pre-show. A portion of the proceeds from the 2013 Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping will again be donated to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City and the Clem McSpadden Endowed Chair at Oklahoma State University. The Lazy E is proud to support these institutions for Western preservation.
Guthrie Art Walk begins at 4p.m., Saturday November 9th in the downtown Historic area until 9p.m.. Seven businesses will feature a variety of artists: Gallery Grazioso will feature artist meg Deb, G Gallery & Glass Studio will feature Randy Haggard, Heritage Collection will feature Shawn Cooper, Aunt Gertrude’s House will feature, Matt Atkinson and Andrea Thalasinos, Antique Gallery of Guthrie will feature Nancy & Sheldon Russell, Carol Ann’s Boutique/ Vencedora Designs will feature Gail Davis and Susie Skaggs the Pollard Theatre will feature Vernon Hatley. Veterans Day is Monday the 11th! The parade begins at 10:30a.m. at the Territorial Museum and continues down Oklahoma Street to Second Street and will stop at Honor Park for a small ceremony.
If you are not a Facebook person, I would highly recommend signing up! The Territorial Governor Race has begun and is really heating up! Justin Fortney, Phil Nichols, Betsy Randolph and Lauri Whites are battling it out! Check out Guthrie Territorial Governors Race on Facebook. Proceeds go to the Territorial Christmas Foundation and helps pay for new decorations, etc. to enhance the Christmas experience in the downtown!
First ever grudge match bake-off will happen Tuesday, November 26th from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Logan County Fairgrounds. Mayor Mark Spradlin versed Donna Coffin. Lunch is free! All different types of beans, chili and cornbread with all of the fixings will be available but dessert is $5. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go towards the Logan Community Services and fifty percent will go to shopping with a cop. Donations and volunteers are accepted! Judges will determine who the better baker is!
