Hello! Lucy and I have been operating two Facebook pages. One is a personal profile page which was set up when Facebook first started. Then we learned that businesses were being shut down for having a profile page so we set up a Like Page and made several attempts to move everyone over…..easier said than done. I posted on Historic Guthrie Chamber for everyone to move over and like Historic Guthrie Chamber of Commerce. People are starting to follow directions so we will be shutting that page down August 31st!
Mark Radford (Logan County Courier) is currently working on a Mumford Tab. There will be lots of good stories and maps of the venue items. If you are interested in advertising your business in a special tab contact Mark Radford at 405-969-2215. This will be a great marketing opportunity for you and a cool souvenir for our guests!
The Chamber of Commerce has just completed its new membership website; www.MyGuthrie Home.com! The general public will be able to view and support the businesses who belonging to the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce. We currently have 343 members! If you are looking for a job this site is a great place to find work, just look for the classified ads!
And now for this week’s CVB/DMO – Chamber of Commerce information session: This week with the CVB/DMO we continued to work with the GOTR production companies to prepare for the upcoming music festival – answering a zillion phone calls, sending emails, organizing the volunteer needs with Stacey Watts, checking on venue availability for after-hours vendors and businesses arrange to have the spots that they need…. and the list goes ON AND ON!! On top of this, we met with many visitors who came to town looking for the Good Ol Guthrie Excitement!! All of them found it, if in a lesser degree on Monday with all of the closings!
As the Chamber of Commerce we negotiated to have the Farmer’s market open during Friday and Saturday during the concert. They will open at 10a.m. and close at midnight. We are happy for the opportunity to spotlight our Oklahoma Market! We touched base with several of our downtown merchants to make sure that things are proceeding well for them. Many are completely reworking their space in order to serve the crowds better, some are stocking up on the items that they intend to be selling the most of, most seem to be tidying up and dressing up their sidewalk area in order to attract the most folks into their stores. Our E. Oklahoma merchants are excited to be getting ready for the mini-Art, Wine and Music Festival which will be happening simultaneously with the GOTR Festival. As Glenda and Cherie say, even though they aren’t directly in the festival area, they are going to make lemonade from those lemons! Kay Wade, with the Logan County Economic Development Council arranged for 25 Freshman students from Langston University to come and use some of their required community volunteer time to help get the Apothecary Garden whipped into shape! They worked joyously for 3 hours, singing and cooperating to get the most possible done! Thanks, Langston! We answered lots of questions about the way things work, here, in Guthrie. Sent out and handed out lots of landlord lists, and gave new resident packets away. People like Guthrie, and are excited to move here and begin a life in our community.
Next week’s Chamber Coffee will be hosted by Carol Ann’s Boutique at 122 W. Oklahoma. This week we are going to start at 9a.m. everyone is welcome! Have a wonderful week!
