Greetings! Hope you had a safe and warm weekend. Below I have a list of fourteen Guthrie school students who do not have winter coats. The list has sizes and gives you an idea of what kind of style coat they would like. Karen Yancey is the contact person, her information is listed as well.
Community Listening Sessions will be taking place to gage interest in Guthrie’s Arts and Cultural District in order to help us see which priorities are most important to the community. They will be taking place at the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 102 E. Noble Ave. Thursday, November 20 at 7pm; Educators, social services, health & welfare services, youth services, the faith community, elders in the city. Saturday, November 22 at 2pm; Artists, arts organizations, galleries, event and venue organizers and non-profits. Tuesday, December 9 at 4pm City/County leaders, representatives of local foundations or non-profits, the business community, and economic development leaders. Tuesday, December 9th at 7pm; students, youth, young leaders and the general public.
The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival holds Youth Competition every year. This year the Williams Family Band played on the Main Stage and won a nice trophy for their youth band. The youth instrument entries had six fiddle entries, three mandolin entries, three guitar entries and two banjo entries for a total of eleven hundred one hundred fifty dollars awarded to a total of eleven participants! Thanks to Byron Berline and his crew for their continuing educational efforts!
Opening Night Ceremonies & Christmas Parade is Saturday evening November 29 at 6pm. The parade will start at the Jr. High and travel to the Post Office Lawn where there will be lots of laughter and singing then the Territorial Governor will be announced. Voting for Territorial Governor continues at these locations; Blue Belle Saloon, Guthrie Pet Hospital, Boneyard Grill, Willobys, Vision Source, Spoonful Pharmacy, Hoboken Coffee Roasters, Byron Berline’s Double Stop Fiddle Shop and Ricks Fine Chocolates and Coffees. If you want to participate in the lighted Christmas parade give us a call at 282-1947, all you have to do is get lit!
Kiwanis Club will be hosting this week’s chamber coffee at the Sleep Inn & Suites. Everyone is welcome to attend we begin at 9:30a.m. Have a wonderful week!
