Charter Oak Elementary receives grant

The Central Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up board recently approved a $1,482 grant to Charter Oak Elementary School to help fund a new playground.

Charter Oak Elementary School is a new facility within the Guthrie Public School District. The school was funded by a bond, the first of its kind to pass in 12 years. Due to other needs in the school district, a playground was not included in the bond.

The playground will meet ADA standards and will provide an outdoor classroom for teachers and students when weather permits. Students and surrounding community members will also have access to the new playground after school hours. Construction of the playground will begin once all necessary funding is secured.

Central Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up® (previously the Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative) is a charitable organization that distributes funds to individuals and organizations throughout the communities within Central’s service area. Independent of Central Electric Cooperative, the Operation Round Up board administers the program, making grants available from money donated by Central members who choose to round up their electric bill to the nearest dollar.
