With an unanimous vote from all city council members, the City of Guthrie has agreed with a local law firm to provide legal services for the City.
The council entered into a letter agreement with Mueller, Wheeler & Associates, PLLC. The firm is comprised of William (Billy) W. Wheeler, Jr. and Sheri L. Mueller.
The law office is located in downtown Guthrie at 106 S. Divison.
The drafted letter shows Wheeler as the attorney of record.
Before private practice, Wheeler served as an assistant district attorney in Logan County. Mueller was appointed to the Guthrie city council in 2012 to fill a seat vacancy and served nearly six months.
As part of the letter agreement, the City will pay a monthly retainer of $3,000 and is to cover a maximum 20 hours per month.
Any services over 20 hours per month will be billed at an hourly rate of $175 per hour with council approval.
In addition, the City will not to exceed $600 for reimbursement of continuing legal education seminars related to municipal law.
In October 2018, City Attorney Randel Shadid announced his retirement and served as the city attorney for 18 years.Related article: City Attorney announces retirement after 18 years
