City Judge resigns after 16 years; council appoints successors

City of Guthrie Judge David Hood has resigned after 16 years of service.

In his resignation statement dated July 9, Hood said, “It has been my privilege of my professional career to serve as the judge for the City of Guthrie. It has been my great pleasure to be entrusted with those duties for the last 16 years, and I hope to have discharged them in a manner worthy of the trust placed with me.”

During the October 21 city council meeting, the council formally accepted the resignation of City Attorney William Wheeler Jr. Moments later, Wheeler was unanimously approved as Guthrie’s next municipal judge.

Following that vote, the council unanimously appointed Marvel Lewis to serve as the new City Attorney.

All votes were approved unanimously by the full council.
