The City of Guthrie recently held their employee Christmas lunch and gave out their annual employee awards for the second straight year.
Guthrie City Manager Matt Mueller acknowledged all the city’s employees and awarded a group of employee’s for their service.
“This is the second year that these awards have been given and they reflect the values that are of extreme importance to this organization,” Mueller said.
In addition to the awards, the city recognized Bennie Barker, Richard Romine and Val Epperson for their 25 years of service.
The Customer Care Award was given to Verdell Smith of the Parks Department for displaying outstanding qualities of customer service in his employment at the City of Guthrie. Last year’s winner of this award was Tommy Bross.
The Innovation and Efficiency Award was given to the employees at the Water Treatment Plant for displaying outstanding skills of efficiency and innovation in the planning, design, and transition to the new water treatment plant. Last year’s winner of this award was Kim Biggs.
The Integrity and Character Award was given to Mike Loya of the Guthrie Police Department for displaying outstanding strength of character and integrity in his service to the City of Guthrie. This award was given to Anthony Gibbs last year.
The City Manager’s Leadership Award was given to Bennie Barker at the Vehicle Maintenance Department for displaying outstanding qualities of leadership in your service to the City of Guthrie. This award was given to Mike Loya last year.
It would also be nice to mention in your article the employees – I believe there were three of them – who were honored for their quarter century of service to the City of Guthrie. Their longevity and loyalty should be recognized as a trait just as desirable as innovation, leadership, and integrity.
Thank you KB!
