The City of Guthrie has announced the rollout of its new Downtown Lighting Grant Program, a financial initiative designed to enhance the city’s Historic Landmark District.
This program offers grants to property owners or tenants of commercially zoned properties within the district, encouraging the addition of decorative lighting to revitalize Guthrie’s downtown ambiance.
Eligible applicants are required to provide a dollar-for-dollar match toward the project’s hard costs, as the grant is structured as a reimbursement program. In-kind contributions do not qualify for the match requirement. Grants are awarded for up to $2,000 per applicant, with the total number of grants depending on the volume of applications and requested funding.
Grant payments are issued after the approved scope of work is completed according to the program’s established timeline. Only commercially zoned properties within Guthrie’s Historic Landmark District are eligible for consideration, and applicants can refer to the district map provided by the city for specific boundaries.
This program marks a significant step in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of downtown Guthrie while preserving its historic charm through strategic lighting improvements.
