The City of Guthrie saw their biggest year in sales tax net payment in the past fiscal year.
The City reports $4,879,499 was netted in the 2016 fiscal year (Oct. 1 through Sept. 30) compared to $4,628,628.94 in fiscal year 2015.
For the second straight year, September (July receipts) recorded the highest net with $544,428, which was the first collection with the approved three-quarters cents sales tax increase for capital improvement projects.
Beginning on July 1, the City’s sales tax percentage went from three percent to 3.75 percent. The total sales tax percentage in Guthrie city limits is nine percent (State 4.5, City 3.75 and County .75).
The Sept. 2016 net proves to be the first month the City has seen more than $500,000 in any month.
