After a year and a half of service to the City of Guthrie, Rebecca Blaine has accepted a position in another Oklahoma community.
Blaine recently was offered the City of Shawnee’s City Planning Director position. She will begin transitioning into that role later this month.
“Guthrie is an incredible community with extraordinary architecture, history and people,” Blaine said in a release.
“I have enjoyed my time serving here. A special thanks to City Manager, Leroy Alsup, who has been a wonderful mentor to me, City staff for their support and comradery, and all of my boards and commissions whose servantship to our community is unmatched. I see nothing but great things ahead for #guthrieamerica! It’s been an absolute pleasure to be a part of the momentum to grow Guthrie.”
During her tenure, Blaine co-authored the nomination for the America Planning Association’s Great Place Award. She also was awarded a $437,5000 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant from a 97 page grant application she had written for the City.
As Planning Director, she oversees all things related to planning, development, code enforcement, and inspections. She served as liaison to four boards and commissions including: Planning Commission, Board of Adjustments, Historic Preservation Commission, and the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Advisory Committee.
