City roads identified for resurfacing with Streets CIP

Updated on Feb. 9, 2017 — The Guthrie City Council awarded bids for the 2017 fiscal year Street Capital Improvement Project. The unanimous approval came during the Feb. 7 city council meeting.

In total, four companies placed bids with TJ Campbell Construction coming in at the lowest for the first 13 projects in the amount of $325,599. Atlas Paving was awarded for five alternate items at $147,000.

Each fiscal year, the Guthrie city council approves various roads to improve as part of the Street Capital Improvement Program. With an estimated $400,000 to spend this year, all three wards within the city limits will see either paving or resurfacing upgrades.

The council gave an unanimous vote for city staff to go out and solicit bids for the projects.

For Ward I, which is primarily the north and east portions of the city, the largest resurfacing project will take place on Cypress Street, which is two blocks west of Pine Street. The road project will be split up in three portions, including from Noble Ave. to Warner Ave., Noble to Oklahoma Ave. and Oklahoma to Springer St. The total estimated cost is $96,295.

In addition, Bird Creek to the cul-de-sac will be resurfaced with an estimated cost of $19,425.

In Ward II, which makes up the largest ward in geography size, is expected to see four projects. The largest project is expected to be on Lake Road from Sooner Road to the east end of the Guthrie Lake Dam with an estimated cost of $184,969.

Other projects, include Lynn Street from Johnson Drive to the cul-de-sac at an estimated $26,270, the alley on Poplar Street to Cleveland Ave. ($6,993) and on Springer St. from Division St. to 1st Street ($14,800).

In Ward III, on Guthrie’s west side, its expected to see two unpaved roads receive a four inch overlay, including 2100 W. Logan to the dead end ($12,340) and 2100 W. Washington to the dead end ($7,030).

Five other projects were identified as alternates, including E. University, I-35 to Hazel ($101,873), Sycamore, University to Garfield ($15,623), Locust, north ditch on Edmonds Rd. north to dead end ($41,276), Edmonds, west ditch on Locust east to Birch ($14,676) and Birch, Edmond to city limits ($26,064).
