A tort claim was filed in March with the City of Guthrie, alleging the City’s street sweeper hit a resident’s parked vehicle. However, the claim was denied by City’s insurance carrier and later approved at the city council meeting on Tuesday.

Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG) said in a letter to the city they investigated the claim that was filed on March 25 and found no liability on the City’s part.

Robert Venus III claimed his 1998 Ford F-150 was struck by the street sweeper vehicle on March 24 while it was parked on the street in front of his residence in the 100 block of W. Oklahoma.

The tort claim amount was $2680.90.
