Guthrie’s west side will again be buzzing with excitement as the 3rd Annual Clay Tarter Memorial Invitational Cross Country Meet returns to Cottonwood Flats on September 5 and 6.

What began as a tribute to beloved coach Clay Tarter has now grown into one of Oklahoma’s premier cross country events. Last year, the two-day meet drew over 1,000 runners from 29 schools across the state. Organizers are expecting another big turnout this year.

“It’s that time of year again,” said Guthrie head coach Bryce Balenseifen. “The Clay Tarter Memorial Invitational Cross Country Meet is coming back to Cottonwood Flats for year 3. Last year, we had over 1,200 runners compete over the two-day event. This has become one of the premier meets in all of Oklahoma, and we love that it has become a great way to honor Coach Tarter. We want to see all of Guthrie there!”
