In the wake of a devastating house fire that claimed the lives of three people early Saturday morning in southeast Logan County, community members are stepping up to support the grieving families through a series of online fundraisers.
The fire broke out just before 6 a.m. on July 12 in the 6900 block of Terrill Lane, not far from the Sooner Fire Department. Despite quick action from multiple emergency crews, three people—two women and a child—were unable to escape the burning home and died in the blaze. Three others, including a father and young child, were able to escape. Related article: Three dead in southeast Logan County house fire; cause under investigation
While investigators with the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office continue to determine the cause of the fire, the community’s focus has turned to helping the families who have lost so much.
Support for the Branscum and Owen Family
One of the fundraisers has been organized for the family of Tracy Branscum, who perished in the fire alongside her daughter and grandson. The GoFundMe campaign honors Tracy’s kind spirit and devotion to her family, noting her “quiet demeanor and ever-present smile.” Donate here

Gene and Kegan: A Mother’s Heroic Love
Another GoFundMe has been launched for Gene and her 8-year-old son Kegan, who also lost their lives in the fire. The fundraiser describes Gene as a “devoted mother” and highlights her final moments as heroic: “In her final moments, Gene was a hero—doing everything she could to save her son.” Donate here

Helping Luke and 2-Year-Old Kiera Rebuild
A third campaign is focused on Luke, Gene’s husband, and their surviving 2-year-old daughter Kiera. According to the fundraiser, the family had moved to Oklahoma just two months ago to care for Gene’s father, who is battling cancer. Luke was able to save Kiera, but Gene and Kegan were unable to escape. Donate here

All three fundraisers are hosted on GoFundMe, and organizers have made the images and stories available to the public in hopes of reaching more supporters.
Organizations such as the Oklahoma Shorthorn Association have also helped share the fundraisers on social media to broaden outreach and mobilize donations.
