The layout for Mineral Wells Park is beginning to take shape as city workers and contractors continue the final stages of the park’s new features.
The project includes a new splash pad, new playground equipment, hard surface parking and ADA accessible sidewalks and three new gazebos that hold true to the historic nature of the park.
City officials are hopeful the splash pad and playground can be opened to the public in early August.
In November, the City of Guthrie was approved for a 50-50 grant from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department for the Land and Water Conservation Fund in the amount of $437,500 for park improvements.
The City matched their portion of the $437,500 from the Capital Improvement Project (CIP) sales tax collection.
