An inmate was found smoking inside the Logan County jail and now a former night shift Corporal with the Sheriff’s Office is facing five charges, including a plan to have sex by faking a medical event.
A Captain spotted Daniel Clark, 30, smoking inside his jail cell on Friday evening. After a search of the cell it was believed an employee was passing letters and smuggling items, including a flat blade screw driver, krazy glue and an active cellular phone and charger to the inmate.
Clark is being held on second degree burglary charges.
The investigation shows a night shift employee, Corp. Shealane Dawn Fields, is believed to had brought the contraband into the jail.
The letters, a total of 49, are said to had begun in July and passed during breakfast feedings. In one of the letters it showed the two had planned to fabricate a medical event in hopes of Clark being moved to the medical cell and they would be able to have sex.
According to the affidavit, the letters talked about getting several items, including purchasing a cell phone, screw driver and glue. The screw driver was intended to pry open a vent and the glue to re-secure the vent to hide the items. After a search of the cell, small cigarettes, a can of Copenhagen, a lighter, used tube of krazy glue and a cell phone with a charger were found.
Before purchasing a phone, it is believed Fields would give Clark her personal phone at the beginning of her shift and then retrieve it a jail check. It’s reported that Clark and Fields would use the phone to take nude photos of themselves.
It was also reported Clark was unable to pry the vent open, and that the screw driver was later taken by Fields from the cell.
Fields, 27, was terminated shortly after the investigation and was taken into custody. She denied to answer any questions from investigators on their findings.
Bond was set at $25,000 for Fields, who is expected to be back in the courtroom on Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. She has been charged with three counts of smuggling contraband into a jail, one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and a count of the violation of Computer Crimes Act.
If found guilty, Fields faces up to two years imprisonment and or a fine up to $2,500.
THEY DESERVE EACH OTHER. “THE FIANCE!”
I totally see why he did it, it was a win win situation for him, but could she not find a man that wasn’t locked up & couldn’t get her locked up as well??
