Cost of speeding citations increase inside city limits

Speed LimitIf you are issued a citation in the city of Guthrie you can expect to pay a bit more after the Guthrie City Council approved the increase in traffic fines.

On August 28, 2014 the Citizens Rate and Fee Advisory Committee met and recommended approval of the increase. The council unanimously voted (5-0) to set the new prices in a recent city council meeting. This is in conjunction with the decisions of other states to raise the costs in relation to speeding tickets. Hanover Speeding Ticket Attorneys are able to assist defendants who have received this citation.

If citied for speeding 5 to 10 mph over the speed limit will now cost motorist $150 as the cost doubled from the previous $75.

The citation for speeding 11 to 15 mph increases from $150 to $225. Speeding citations for 16-20 is now $300 and up for $225. Any other speeding citation over 21 mph is now $375 compared to the previous $300. These prices are just for Guthrie though so prices in other places may vary. Most places want you to drive safe though, as they want to reduce the number of accidents that happen. Accidents happen all over the place, no matter how careful a driver you think you are. For example, you could have a fatal accident in Brownsville, TX due to another person driving recklessly. The increased fines will helpfully reduce the number of accidents in Guthrie that are caused due to speeding.

  1. Sure, always raise fee and taxes before cutting spending to cover the other areas. I am glad I manage my money better than out local, state and federal govt.

  2. See also Ferguson, MO. These fines disproportionately affect lower income residents, who often can’t afford to pay, resulting in bench warrants, etc.

  3. There’s been a major wording error for at least the past 4 years in one of the codes.
